Red Bull on restrictions Hungary: "It's not a major issue"
- GPblog.com
Next week the Grand Prix of Hungary is on the calendar. For the Formula 1 teams this means once again that they will have to comply with all kinds of measures, both on and off the track. In Budapest there are even more restrictions than in Austria durinig the last two weeks, but at Red Bull Racing they don't really worry about that.
When the strict lockdown restrictions are broken in Hungary, the drivers and staff of the teams risk a fine of €15,000. Moreover, on paper, it is even possible to end up in prison. For the Formula 1 circus, this means that it is only allowed to travel back and forth between the Hungaroring and the hotel.
Red Bull doesn't worry
"No, not really," Christian Horner answers when asked if Red Bull is worried about the situation. "We have to go racing and if we go out for dinner, it costs us quite a lot of of money. The hotels are very nice there. It's not a major issue. We like to race. We just deal with it."
For the employees of the Austrian race team, the revised calendar of Formula 1 is a mental challenge. "It is tough for them. We just spend three months locked up. We knew it was one of the conditions we had to face in order to return to racing. Given the choice of those conditions or not racing, we all signed up for those conditions. It is not ideal. The situation globally seems to be hopefully improving with more races being announced", says the team boss of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon in conversation with GPblog.com.
