Alex Albon on steward punishment: "It was 50/50 for me"

According to Alexander Albon, his touch with Kevin Magnussen and the penalty he was given, had a major impact on his race progress. Nevertheless, Albon is happy with the fact that he was able to return to the top-ten and score some points.

"I think we got a little lucky with the punctures. This allowed us to return to the points. It was a good race," said Albon to Sky Sports in his first reaction after the race at Silverstone. The Red Bull Racing driver was given a time penalty of five seconds after his incident with Magnussen on the first lap. "It was 50/50 for me."

Gap closed quickly

In front of the British camera, Albon tried to sketch the situation.

"Kevin went off the runway and the way he got on the runway initially made sure there was room there. I don't think he saw me or that the hole closed very quickly. I tried to get past it, but then we suffered the damage," the Thai Brit said.

With teammate Max Verstappen in second place, an eighth-place and only four World Championship points is a bit skinny.

"It's certainly not what we want, but it's damage control," he concluded.
