After the Italian Grand Prix, Claire and Frank Williams will leave Formula 1. An emotional moment for the sport and certainly not an easy choice for Claire.
For seven years Claire holds the reins of the team founded by her father, Frank Williams. However, as years have gone on Williams have struggled to keep up financially and on the track. And now the team have been sold to Dorilton Capital. As a result both Claire Williams and her father will leave the team after the Italian Grand pRIX
Williams family leaves Formula 1
''I have been able to call this team my team for seven years and lead it my way. It would then be very difficult for me to work for someone else. The team needs someone who can do that with full energy, because that's not the case for me,'' Williams said in conversation with Sky Sports.
''I've done everything for this team to keep the name intact and that's why it's finally sold. Of course I would have liked to achieve much more, but I hope that I can leave Formula 1 with my head held high."
