Hamilton: "We have less downforce, so we slide a bit more"

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in the second free practice session at Monza. Still, the reigning champion believes Mercedes still have a few more steps to make so that he is more comfortable in the car.

The balance must be better

"I don't know what it looked like," Hamilton tells Sky Sports about his car. “It felt like progress from FP1 to FP2. We have less downforce so we slide a bit more, but we have definitely made progress. ”

“I think there are still a few more steps to be taken for me to be more comfortable in the car. The track is quite bumpy and we still need to improve a bit in terms of balance," the Mercedes driver continues.

Qualifying

Incidentally, Hamilton doesn't expect much from qualifying. Last year's messy qualifying is being tackled by Formula 1 so that not everyone is waiting for each other to get a gap this year. "That is still going to be a nightmare," says Hamilton.
