FIA sets minimum time on Monza to avoid traffic jams
- GPblog.com
Michael Masi has announced that drivers who drive very slowly on purpose will be reported to the stewards during Saturday's qualification. In 2019 it was common for drivers to wait for each other to get a tow on the long straights of Monza.
No more traffic jams
Last season qualifying had become a mockery for drivers who were waiting for someone else to tow them. In Q3 a number of drivers were even too late to start another lap.
A statement from the FIA states that drivers must drive a minimum time on their out-lap. Drivers who lap slower than 1:43 will be reported to the stewards.
