Ferrari hopes to grab points tomorrow: "With tyre management or strategy"

For the Tifosi, it has been a painful afternoon at the Monza circuit. Laurent Mekies said it was no surprise for the team, despite the heavy blow.
Charles Leclerc flew out of qualifying with a 13th place on the grid after Q2, while Sebastian Vettel didn't even make it out of Q1. And all that while pole position was taken last year and the home race was won by the Maranello team. The situation for Ferrari is therefore quite painful.
According to Laurent Mekies, the team's Sports Director, the performance alone isn't going to come as a surprise. "It's a difficult situation, we know that. Qualifying at Monza wasn't a surprise, we knew it would be complicated. We've already seen that at Spa and before that," Mekies explained to Motorsport.com.
Focus on the future
The Frenchman sees only one solution for the team from Maranello. "We need to turn the page and focus on the future, to understand how to build a more competitive car. Today, of course, no one was happy with the result, but the focus is not on how things are going at the moment, but how we can get out of this situation".
Despite the poor starting position, Mekies is still hoping for some points during the Italian Grand Prix. "The car is what it is, but when it's Saturday night you're going to look at all possible solutions to do better. Whether it's tire management or strategy, we'll see to get the best result. Whether we can score points with that, we'll see tomorrow", concludes the Frenchman.
