Gasly still enjoys: ''I've missed that feeling of driving at the front''

Pierre Gasly's victory is one he will never forget. It has been a while since the Frenchman fought for a victory and he says he missed that feeling. The duel with Carlos Sainz evoked old memories.
''I really enjoyed being in the fight with Carlos. I had expected Valtteri Bottas to catch up with us, but that turned out not to be the case. That gave Carlos and me a unique opportunity and it reminded me of when we used to be able to duel together in the junior categories," said Gasly to Formula1.com.
Sainz versus Gasly
It is indeed not the first time that Sainz and Gasly have met. In 2014, Gasly and Sainz fought for the title in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. Sainz took off with the title and eventually the seat at Toro Rosso, but as a Rookie, Gasly had made a big impression with a second-place and eight podium finishes.
''I knew we were in a good position and I really missed that feeling of being at the front. You don't have anyone in front of you where you need to go. At that moment I didn't pay attention to Carlos either, because you don't have any influence on that. I just went from corner to corner and wanted to get the best out of myself."
