First free practice is half an hour of silence: Rain ruins chance of action
- GPblog.com
The first free practice session for the Eifel Grand Prix has been postponed by at least half an hour. Time is ticking, but the helicopter cannot take off, so drivers are not allowed on the track. For Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott it is a loss, as they would make their F1 debut at the Nurburgring.
When the Nurburgring was announced on the F1 calendar for October 2020, the weather conditions were already expected to be wet and cold. On Friday morning it was therefore wet and foggy. Even so foggy that the FIA decided to delay the start of the first free practice session by half an hour. Therefore, the drivers will have a maximum of one hour to train in VT1.
Are we going to drive today?
The question now is whether there will be any action on the track today. The conditions are very wet and on top of that it is very foggy on the track. If there will be action on the track, it will be difficult for the drivers on the track. Especially for the two debutants, namely Schumacher and Ilott. So the two F2 drivers will have to wait a while before they can go on the track for the first time.
