Steiner: 'Kevin and Romain have to look around for other teams'

Haas is one of the few teams with both seats still free for next year. Team boss Guenther Steiner has confidence in his drivers, but also says he hopes they will talk to other teams.
"I wouldn't be angry about that," says Steiner to Motorsport-Total. He doesn't give his drivers much of a chance to stay. No decision has yet been made by the team, the team boss emphasises. "If we knew something we would tell the drivers straight away. They deserve that. Whether you stay or not, you should know that. They have to be the first to know".
"We need a little longer"
The 55-year-old also says that his team is normally quicker with these kinds of things. "Normally we are good at this. But due to all the circumstances we need a little longer this year. But I'm sure Kevin and Romain are not at home waiting for a phone call from me. They need to look around because everyone is doing that. So do we. But if you check someone's availability, you haven't promised yet".
"That goes for them too, of course. They go and talk to other teams, to other people. At least, I hope they will. That's what they have management for. That's what these people are there for. I don't get angry when they talk to others. And I tell them whether they stay or not", concludes the always direct Steiner.
