Rumour: 2021 season to start in Bahrain
- GPblog.com
It seems that next year the season could open with a race in Bahrain. This means that the teams will return there only three months after their double race towards the end of the 2020 season.
F1 boss Chase Carey said this week that the sport is completing a 'fairly normal' Formula 1 calendar. They are going to try to finish a more balanced calendar all over the world. An official provisional calendar hasn't been released yet, but F1i managed to get their hands on a rumoured version.
Return to Zandvoort
According to this calendar, the first race of the season will be held in Bahrain, where perhaps the winter tests will also take place. Remarkably, the race in Australia has been postponed all the way to the end of the season. The reason for this will be the travel restrictions imposed by the Australian government regarding the corona virus. Nobody knows how long these restrictions will last.
According to the provisional calendar, the first Formula 1 race at Zandvoort since 1985 will take place on 2 May 2021. That is about the same time of the year as last year's race. The calendar also shows that we will not be returning to Mugello and the Nürburgring next year, despite the popularity among fans and drivers.
