It may be that George Russell loses his seat for next year at Williams. Rumours about the arrival of Sergio Perez to the British team have been circulating on the internet for some time now and Russell seems to be the one to be sacrificed.

Sergio Perez is still without a seat for next season, despite several teams still having room for him. Earlier it was said that it would be most likely if he would sign with Haas or Alfa Romeo, but now something else is popping up more and more often. The Mexican could replace George Russell at Williams and ride alongside Nicholas Latifi.

"It seems unthinkable"

Marc Priestley, a former engineer at McLaren, doesn't believe it's very likely, but he doesn't know the financial situation of the new owners of the new team either. "It seems unthinkable that such a thing would happen to one of Formula 1's greatest talents who had not yet made a mistake during his first years in the sport. He seems on his way to the top. Yet now there is all this speculation on the internet," he says in a video on YouTube.

"Let's look at the pros and cons," Priestley continues. "Sergio will come up with a huge amount of money for the team. We don't know the financial situation of the team at the moment. We can assume that they are doing better than Williams first did, but that team did not see the need to hire two paying drivers. One can also wonder whether they see George Russell as someone you can move forward with in the future. He has actually only been placed with Williams to mature for Mercedes. Maybe the new owners would like to have more firmness for the future."
