After the accident of
Romain Grosjean at the
Bahrain Grand Prix, the
FIA quickly came into action to improve the safety of the circuit. Modifications have been made to the track, part of which will also be used this weekend.
Adjustments for GP of Sakhir
The adjustments were almost done, as part of the track will also be used during the
Sakhir Grand Prix. The most important changes have already been made.
For example, a double tire stack was placed in turn 3, where Grosjean made his horror crash. The concrete blocks that were temporarily placed for the restart of the race have been removed and replaced by a steel barrier.
In addition, the tire stack in turn 9 has been expanded, and a kerb between turns 8 and 9 has been removed to prevent cars from being launched when they drive over it.
