Russell set to do press conference for Mercedes. Will Hamilton race?
- GPblog.com
It seems far from certain that Lewis Hamilton will be back at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend. George Russell will be attending tomorrow's press conference on behalf of Mercedes.
Abu Dhabi press conference
So George Russell will not be in his Williams clothes tomorrow and Jack Aitken has been announced as a driver on behalf of Williams at the same press conference. Whether this also means that Hamilton will miss the Grand Prix this weekend has not yet been announced. In any case, it will be very last-minute now.
Mercedes willing to wait
According to the Daily Mail, Mercedes is in any case prepared to wait until Saturday to decide whether or not to drive at Hamilton this weekend. According to the regulations, a driver must as a minimum participate in free practice or qualifying on Saturday in order to participate in the race. Should Hamilton not be able to do this, Russell will in that case replace him.
