Nyck de Vries is very much looking forward to the Young Driver Test after the Bahrain Grand Prix. The 25-year old driver will have the opportunity to make his unofficial debut in a Formula 1 car at the end of 2020 with Mercedes. "Buzzing from the day I was informed. This will become my Formula 1 debut. Can’t thank Mercedes enough for the faith and opportunity. Dreams come true," writes De Vries on his Twitter account.
De Vries became champion in
Formula 2 in 2019, but then found no place in the pinnacle of motorsport. All seats were taken at an early stage, so the driver opted for a career in
Formula E at Mercedes.
In his debut year, De Vries did well in the electric class and now he receives a reward in the form of being allowed to drive an F1 car.
