Max Verstappen is in the middle of his preparations for the new Formula One season, but still found time to drive the virtual 12 Hours of Bathurst in iRacing for Team Redline last weekend. He left a strong impression.

Last year, an unfortunate collision with a straggler in this race saw victory slip from his hands. Now, together with professional sim racer Enzo Bonito, he dominated the race. From start to finish, the duo was in the lead. Impressive, but what happened just before in qualifying was perhaps even more impressive.

Verstappen qualified on pole with a quality lap. In cars that are almost identical to each other, he was 0.449 seconds faster than the rest of the field. As you can see in the video below, GT-driver and simrace colleague Kelvin van der Linde explains how good that lap was on Twitter.

“Honestly, probably unnoticed but I rate this as probably one of his top 5 wow moments so far, real racing included. So hard to put into perspective but to give the worlds best sim racers 4 tenths in Qualifying at that level, is savage. Mega to see Max in his prime", says Van der Linde.
