Yamamoto will watch Red Bull with mixed feelings from 2022 onwards

Honda will be leaving Formula 1 after 2021. In their last year as official engine supplier, they will not only want to do everything to become world champion with Red Bull Racing, but they also want to leave the team with the best possible power source. It's just a shame for Masashi Yamamoto that Honda can't take credit for that anymore.
“Personally I’m really glad that at least from next year they have something that we have made", Yamamoto is quoted by Formula1.com. "As Honda, we like to support Red Bull with what we can to give them a competitive power unit that means they can fight for championships. If we can give it to them then that would be really great."
Honda top pulled the door behind them too soon before
It could just be that Honda is repeating its own history. In 2009 Jenson Button also became world champion with a Honda developed car, without their name on the car. The Japanese are therefore determined to become world champions this season. To do so they have introduced a new power source, although according to the original schedule it would already be in the car this season.
“In the very original schedule before Covid hit, the power unit was meant to be brought in 2021, but then Covid happened and that had an impact on development so we delayed it until 2022. Then things changed again because we announced we’d be leaving F1 at the end of 2021, so we brought it forward again to this year", Yamamoto said.
