Just like 2020, the current year will not be the most fun and successful one when you are a Ferrari driver. Charles Leclerc, for example, managed to climb the podium only twice last year, where in 2019 it happened with some regularity. To change things up, the Scuderia swapped Sebastian Vettel for the younger, fresher Carlos Sainz. Although the latter and Leclerc finished within the points at the last race in Bahrain, it won't be another glory year for Ferrari.

Passion for Ferrari

Leclerc will no doubt often be asked what his team is missing out on compared to top teams like Mercedes and Red Bull. For the young Monegasque it's not all so black and white. He still feels it is a great honour to drive for the Italian team. Also in conversation with DLui Magazine, Leclerc was asked what exactly Ferrari is lacking, but he prefers to focus on the things Ferrari does have instead of other teams.

"I know one thing that the other teams will never have, and that is the Tifosi. The passion that Ferrari creates with millions of fans around the world, the other teams will always envy that."

Emotions

Leclerc claims to still be emotional in the moments when he realises he is allowed to drive for the team from Maranello. When he was young and attending the Monaco grand prix, he says he was already looking for the red cars on the track. "I was probably born a Ferrari fan, without knowing it myself. So when I see myself in red I'm not only proud, but I still get emotional."
