Hamilton on title fight: 'Verstappen has championship winning car and team'

Lewis Hamilton has a chance to set a new record in Spain: if he wins the Grand Prix it will be the fifth Spanish GP he has won in a row. But Hamilton knows that Max Verstappen will do everything in his power not to give him this record.
Equalling Senna
Hamilton is unbeatable at Circuit de Catalunya. Since winning the race in 2017, he has done so every year so far. However, it's not something the Mercedes driver is concerned with: "I didn't know," he is quoted as saying by Motorsport-Total.com. Only Ayrton Senna ever managed to win the same race five times year on year. He did this at Monaco from 1989 to 1993.
Spanish victory in 2021 will be tougher than in previous years
However, there is someone who would love to keep him off that record: Max Verstappen. The Dutchman won his first-ever Grand Prix in 2016 and is looking to win his second race of the year in Spain.
Hamilton says it hasn't been this exciting in years: "It's the closest battle for a long time. Max is performing well. He has a championship-winning car and team. Our experience helps us how to come back after difficult weekends. Even the fastest laps with the extra points are important."
