Shovlin expects Red Bull to have the advantage in Monaco

According to Mercedes engineer Andrew Shovlin, Red Bull Racing will have an advantage when Formula 1 arrives in Monaco next week. This while the last edition of the Monaco GP was won by Mercedes.
"It’s a circuit where you adapt the car an awful lot. On paper, I would say it would suit Red Bull more than us," Shovlin is quoted as saying by Motorsportweek.com. In recent years Mercedes have got it wrong themselves a number of times during the race Shovlin admits.
Downforce is the key to success
Shovlin tipped Red Bull off mainly because the Austrian team has not yet raced with maximum downforce in Spain. "Partly that’s because we’ve been running our max downforce wing [in Spain] and we saw it on their car on Friday but they didn’t race it, so they can put a bit more downforce on," explained Shovlin.
Monaco is not something you win overnight, the Briton knows. "We will see where we are and if we’re not the quickest then we will try and make their life difficult." Mercedes last won the Monaco GP in 2019. The Year Before that, Daniel Ricciardo managed to win the race for Red Bull. The event was not held in 2020.
