Charles Leclerc is on pole position at the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix for the second consecutive time. Although he was a bit lucky both times, it's also not entirely a coincidence. Leclerc is known to be a qualifying beast and is putting his new teammate
Carlos Sainz further and further behind in the qualifying duel.
At some other teams, the battle is getting more and more exciting. After the first handful of races most teams seemed to have a clear division between the fast and the slow drivers in the team. However, especially in the midfield there are a number of drivers who are making a small comeback.
One of them is
Sebastian Vettel, who thanks to
Lance Stroll's crash is now on par with the Canadian. The same goes for
Lando Norris.
Fernando Alonso has finally found a way to get back into the race against
Esteban Ocon.
The two best performers in qualifying this season are still
Pierre Gasly and
George Russell. They are both still unbeaten. And that's despite their teammates also having a pretty good qualifying session for their part in Baku.
