Kevin Magnussen is at home in the United States. The former Formula 1 driver competes in the IMSA championship and took his first victory of the season with Dutchman Renger van der Zande. Will Magnussen ever return to the pinnacle of motorsport?

That chance seems very small. Magnussen is excited to fight for wins for the first time in about eight years. That's why he doesn't want to return to Formula 1 unless Mercedes or Red Bull Racing come forward.

Red Bull or Mercedes

But Magnussen knows that's not going to happen either. "If I had a Mercedes or a Red Bull I wouldn't say no. I don't think many racing drivers would, but that's not going to happen. As I said before, I'm very, very happy with the opportunity that I had in Formula 1. Not many people get to have that many years in Formula 1."

The Danish driver knows that he was privileged to have a permanent place for seven seasons since 2014. "I'm super happy about that and I had some great experiences. Having said that, I feel fresh motivation, and I feel like it's fun again," he admitted at Autoweek.com.

Poor season Haas F1

Magnussen's contract at Haas F1 was not renewed after last year and that might be just as well, as the American stable will be at the back of the grid in 2021. The 28-year old driver is not happy with the situation. "I feel for them. They're great people. I have many friends and they're kind of like family to me so, I feel for them."
