Ferrari flourished in the streets of Monaco and Baku. Charles Leclerc was able to put his red machine on pole position twice but could not convert this into a podium, partly due to a DNS in Monaco. Carlos Sainz expects the team to be out of the race in France.
Sainz himself managed to get his first podium for Ferrari at Monaco by finishing second behind Max Verstappen. According to the Spaniard, Monaco and Baku are not typical circuits and both tracks enhance some of the characteristics of the Ferrari SF21.
Back to square one in France
In Baku, Sainz was unable to get the result he wanted even though he said he had the right car for the job. At Paul Ricard he expects it to be different again. Especially with the tyre warm-up on Saturday, Ferrari would have an advantage Sainz told the Italian branch of Motorsport.com.
"In the race we saw much more normal performance. I expect this weekend to be about the same as the race in Baku. I think we will compete with McLaren, Alpine and AlphaTauri," Sainz revealed.
