Vandoorne takes pole position for London E-Prix

In the qualifying battle for the E-Prix in London it was Stoffel Vandoorne who set the fastest lap and took pole position. He managed to stay ahead of yesterday's polesitter, Alex Lynn of Mahindra racing.
In Q1 it was Mercedes-teammate Nyck de Vries who set the time to beat. The Frisian driver's 1.20.511 was quickly improved upon in the second and third groups, which is not uncommon given the qualifying format in Formula E, where track conditions improve over the course of the qualifying sessions. Eventually, it were De Vries, Vandoorne, Rowland, Evans, Gunther and Lynn who secured a spot for the super pole shootout.
The Mercedes-driver was again the first to set a laptime there, posting a 1.20.353 as the time to beat. This time was beaten by Vandoorne, as well as Rowland and Lynn.
Good cards for Mercedes
Eventually it was the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne who set the fastest time today, securing a top bargaining position for Mercedes. Today's E-Prix will most likely see rainfall, which will create an exciting situation on the track that is only halfway inside.
