Kubica in action at Hungaroring for Polish fans
- GPblog.com
For the third time, this season Robert Kubica was allowed to participate in a free practice session for Alfa Romeo. He has done so before in Spain and Austria. But this Friday's session is extra special for the Polish reserve driver.
Extra special free practice
Because the Hungaroring is the closest circuit to Poland, there are always many Polish fans here. All the more fun when they will see Kubica in action. "It's always great to be back in the car, especially in Budapest," he told a press release. "There are always a lot of Polish fans in the stands and I know there will be a lot of flags to welcome me when I drive out of the garage on Friday."
There are therefore many things being organised for the Polish fans this weekend. A special Team Booth in the Fan Zone will showcase the team's car and racing equipment. There is also an extensive programme of virtual fan meet & greet sessions, special merchandise offers and much more.
Focus on his work
All the activities with the fans are of course fun, but Kubica obviously has work to do too. "Once you are in the car, the focus is of course to work as well as possible for the team and to help our engineers with the set-up of the car. The margins are very small in the midfield, so any improvement could be crucial."
Team boss Frederic Vasseur is very happy with Kubica's input so far. "Robert has already done a very good job for the team this season and we are happy to see him back in the car in Budapest. His technical feedback has really helped us with the tuning of the car and we are confident that he can help us get even more out of our package as the season progresses."
