De Vries sees few chances, but remains hopeful for F1: 'Nothing is impossible'

In Berlin, Nyck de Vries secured his first world title in Formula E. The Dutchman was handed the title when three title rivals all retired in the opening phase. De Vries has long been linked with a move to Formula 1 and the world title helps, as he is well aware.
"It's obviously everyone's dream and goal to drive Formula 1 eventually. That goes for me too, I don't have to lie about that," the Mercedes driver acknowledged in a conversation with Motorsport.com. Currently, De Vries is in Le Mans, for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Until last year he drove for Racing Team Nederland and this year he will drive for G-Drive Racing.
Still plenty of time for De Vries to make the switch
"I'm a young driver and have lived and worked towards that. I may have taken a slightly different path, but I'm still young, so it's not impossible". At 26 years old, De Vries still has a long career ahead of him. Recently, rumours about a switch to F1 in 2022 have gained momentum.
"It gives a good feeling when you read that people are talking about you and that you are linked with a possible spot in Formula 1. I know that it is not entirely in my own hands", De Vries concludes.
