The driver field for the 2022 Formula One season is starting to look more and more concrete. It looks like
Mercedes have made their decision, although they haven't officially announced it yet. Only a few question marks remain for the 2022 seats.
It looks like
Pierre Gasly will continue to drive at AlphaTauri in 2022 after
Sergio Perez's confirmation.
Yuki Tsunoda is also still uncertain about his seat. He was unable to maintain his strong start to the
Formula 1 season.
According to information from
Motorsport-Total.com Tsunoda will be confirmed for AlphaTauri during the weekend of the
Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the team's home circuit. With that also the chance for
Alexander Albon to return to the team seems to be over. However, he is now getting linked to the
Williams seat, as is Dutchman
Nyck de Vries.
What will Bottas and Raikkonen do
If Tsunoda is actually confirmed at Monza, a number of unconfirmed seats remain. For example, it is not yet certain where
Valtteri Bottas will drive in 2022 when he leaves Mercedes, Alfa Romeo or
Williams? It is also not yet clear whether
Kimi Raikkonen will continue for another year or retire after this season. We will probably find out more in the coming weeks.
