Kimi Raikkonen announced his retirement on Wednesday evening. The Finn has had a great career in Formula One, but will retire at the end of this season. Stefano Domenicali and Frederic Vasseur had plenty of praise for the Finn.
Raikkonen has been seen in Formula 1 for many years. He started at Sauber, but exploded at McLaren, where he was close to the title twice. He was brought to Ferrari as the successor of Michael Schumacher, where he won his first and only world title in Formula 1. However, after 2007, Raikkonen continued to win the hearts of many people.
Departure of Raikkonen
"Kimi is an incredible part of our sport, a personal friend and a true champion. I had the privilege of working with him at Ferrari and know what a fantastic person he is. We will all miss him and his unique style and wish him and his family all the best for the future," Formula One CEO Domenicali revealed to Formula1.com.
Raikkonen's team boss closed their period together in the style we are just used to seeing from Raikkonen, namely short and sweet: "There is no driver like Kimi", said the Alfa Romeo team boss, Vasseur, who is expected to announce more about his line-up for 2022 soon.
