Seidl: 'We will fight them until the last race in Abu Dhabi'

The battle between McLaren and Ferrari for the third spot in the Constructors' Championship is certainly not over yet. McLaren are still just third with 254 points, but Ferrari are fourth with three and a half points difference. Despite Ferrari getting closer after the last two races Andreas Seidl is still calm.
McLaren managed to score a good amount of points during the Italian Grand Prix with a first and second place, but Ferrari managed to do better in Turkey and the United States. Seidl admits that Ferrari has certainly made a big step, but he also knows that the battle is not over yet.
"We know there are tracks coming that will probably play a bit more to the strengths of our car, but there is tracks coming at the end of the season where we will struggle compared to Ferrari. So it’s simply important that we extract each weekend the maximum from the package as it is with clean races and then hopefully that’s enough to battle them until the last lap in Abu Dhabi," said the German engineer at Motorsportweek.
Result in the United States was fine
McLaren is still satisfied with the results in Austin. Ricciardo managed to finish ahead of Sainz which is very positive for the team as Ferrari seemed much faster. "I think we need to be absolutely happy with the outcome because I think we have maximised everything that was possible for us, or even more. It was a well-handled race by the team, by both drivers and we achieved what was on the cards for us."
