No time for retirement: Ecclestone finds new job in top sport
- GPblog.com
Bernie Ecclestone is going to work again as an advisor in top sport. The former top man of Formula 1 could not skip an offer from the International Ski Federation (FIS).
Under Ecclestone's guidance, Formula 1 rapidly developed into a global sport. Ecclestone was known as a tough negotiator, but he got things done. He got a lot more money for F1, but also for the teams and drivers. This is why the sport became so big.
New work for Ecclestone
At 90 years old (on 28 October he will turn 91) you could be enjoying your well-earned retirement, but that is not the case for Ecclestone. According to the Kronen Zeitung, he has been persuaded by the chairman of the ski federation, Johan Eliasch.
''Bernie has done an enormous amount of things for Formula 1 and thanks to his work it is now a global supersport,'' Eliasch praises his new acquisition. More money needs to go to skiers and for that a working group has been set up under the leadership of Peter Schröcksnadel. Ecclestone will also join this working group.
