Sainz disappointed with team: 'We couldn't do it'

Carlos Sainz had an unfortunate race during the United States Grand Prix. The Spaniard was unable to keep the two McLaren drivers behind him during the first few laps and was unable to fully repair the damage.
Sainz worked hard to overtake Daniel Ricciardo, but was unable to do so. When Ferrari tried to outsmart him with an undercut, the Italian team was unable to make a faultless pit stop. As a result, Sainz once again found himself behind Ricciardo.
"With the second pit stop we tried an undercut on Ricciardo, but for the third consecutive time we had a problem, a slow pit stop," Sainz told Motorsport.com. "We couldn't do it and it would have made our lives easier. This was definitely a bad race for me."
Battle between Sainz and Ricciardo
Ricciardo and Sainz made it a spectacle at the end of the race, with the drivers' cars hitting each other. "I tried to overtake Daniel a few times and then there was contact. I think it was a bit on the limit, but when you are behind, you have more and more to lose."
