Race engineer Alonso sees contrast with Ricciardo: "He uses far fewer words"

Fernando Alonso is not afraid to speak his mind. The Alpine driver limits his statements to the most necessary. That's what his race engineer Karel Loos says.
Loos has built up an impressive CV with names like Jolyon Palmer, Kevin Magnussen, Carlos Sainz, Daniel Ricciardo and now Fernando Alonso. This is the first time the Belgian has worked with a World Champion and for him the difference is clearly noticeable.
"Fernando uses far fewer words than Daniel," said Loos in conversation with Formula 1 Magazine Therefore, according to the engineer, it was initially a matter of feeling each other out and learning to understand each other, something that is now paying off.
Alonso focuses on the details
Loos sees a big contrast between Alonso and the other drivers he has worked with. With the Spaniard he has more contact, both within the race weekends and outside of them. Also, the Alpine driver is more focused on details. "Now that we know each other better we understand more and more what he means by the details," Loos added.
Some may find Alonso too outspoken in his opinions, but Loos sees that as a positive thing. He sees that the Spaniard often makes suggestions, but that he effortlessly accepts it when an engineer explains to him that there is a better way. "Fernando gives his opinion, but he doesn't impose it ," said Loos.
