New rules no longer prevent Williams and Red Bull making quick pit stops
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing and Williams had to practice for a while, but with the new pit stop rules they have now regained the top spots in the timesheet. This time the victory goes to Williams.
Red Bull and Williams back on top
Since the Belgian Grand Prix the Formula 1 teams have to follow new pit stop regulations. The pitstops were said to be too fast and unsafe so the FIA introduced new regulations. Williams and Red Bull Racing were the teams with the fastest pitstops.
Under two seconds is no longer possible, but after some practice it is again Williams and Red Bull who come closest. George Russell's pitstop in Mexico took 2.17 seconds. Red Bull was slightly slower with the pit stop for Max Verstappen: 2.27 seconds. Ferrari are surprisingly number three and four with stops of 2.33 and 2.38 seconds respectively.
For the second time in 2021, @WilliamsRacing perform the #DHL Fastest Pit Stop! They top the charts at the #MexicoGP, ahead of Red Bull. #F1 #DHLF1
