Lando Norris managed to pull of a successful qualifying for McLaren, and will start P6 during tomorrow's race in Qatar. It could prove crucial in their battle with Ferrari.

Whilst Charles Leclerc and Daniel Ricciardo failed to make it out of Q2, Norris ended up finishing in P6 in the top ten shootout a result which could be important in the context of the Constructors' Championship.

Speaking to Sky after qualifying, Norris admitted he wasn't expecting P6 to be a possibility.

"Very satisfied! I am not P1 so its still disappointing," Norris joked on speaking to Sky Sports F1.

"We did not expect P6, we expected to be further back. Happy because my lap was good in the end. We had our longest ever debrief trying to. understand and it worked out,"  he continued.

"If you get held up in the final sector its a bad thing but its a tricky circuit. The timing of turning in here is important. Tricky circuit to put it all together. I am not worried. Its going to be tough. Starting on the soft is not what we wanted. Carlos starts on the medium so swill have better race tomorrow."
