It is no secret:
Williams want to sign
Carlos Sainz for the 2025 season. That would mean
Alexander Albon could have a high-profile teammate up against him from the upcoming year onwards. The Thai-British driver reacted to the rumours around the Spaniard in Barcelona.
"I wouldn’t say I’m so involved. We talk about it, definitely, but I’m not there to say who I want to be as a teammate. It’s interesting. Obviously there’s a lot of drivers out there. On my side it’s just really about doing my own job. You guys [the media] talk about it more than me," Alexander Albon is quoted by
Formula One's website. Albon so far has been confidently faster than his teammate,
Logan Sargeant, and the American has never outqualified him in his career.
While Albon's future is nicely secured,
Williams still needs to recruit a driver alongside the Thai-British driver. First, Andrea Kimi Antonelli's name was brought up, and there were already talks about the young Italian replacing Logan Sargeant in 2024. Also, since the
Monaco Grand Prix,
Carlos Sainz has been heavily connected to the team based in Grove.
