Red Bull Racing will announce the future of
Alexander Albon in 'a few days'. It is clear that his seat with the Austrian team is far from certain and is mainly competed for by brand new race winner
Sergio Perez.
Future of Albon
For Albon, Abu Dhabi is the last chance he has to show that he belongs in the Red Bull.
"We will certainly wait for the last race," says advisor
Helmut Marko to Kleine Zeitung.
"We do not want to draw hasty conclusions. The decision will be taken in a few days' time."The possible successor of Albon is
Racing Point driver Perez. The Mexican has been on Red Bull's radar since the second half of the season, according to Marko.
"I will fly to England on Monday and a decision will be made before Christmas," Marko said.
Verstappen wins on all fronts
Albon has not impressed massively during his first full season at Red Bull. While teammate
Max Verstappen has made ten trips to the podium in 2020 inlcuding a race victory on
Formula 1's 70th Anniversary race at Silverstone, Albon has only managed two third places. Albon also failed to beat the Dutchman in qualifying in 2020.
