2018 is all about winning the 24 Hours of
Le Mans for
Fernando Alonso, and the Spaniard has said that the 6 Hours of Spa Francorchamps, which he won yesterday, was a good warm-up for him.
The endurance race at Spa is the last
WEC-race before Le Mans, which is held on the 16th and 17th of June. In his quest for the triple crown (winning Indy500, Le Mans and the Monaco GP), Alonso will be looking to bring home the bacon for Toyota at the Circuit de la Sarthe and adding the second jewel to his triple crown.
"This is warm-up for Le Mans for sure," Alonso said after the endurance race.
"Like a test in which you get points at the end.
"The intention was to fully get accustomed to all the stress and all other circumstances that come with a race.
"That we've gotten a one-two only proves that we're ready for Le Mans.
As the name kind of gives away, the Spa race is only six hours compared to Le Mans' 24.
"A lot can go wrong in six hours, but in 24 hours a lot more can go wrong if that's possible.
"We have to prepare very well for the start and hope that everything goes well there."
