McLaren driver Fernando Alonso has given his seal of approval to F1 owners Liberty Media, who have made the sport more about the fans, the drivers and about the spectacle in general.

Alonso has three races left in his Formula One-career before he hangs up his gloves. He'll hope that they'll last longer than they did in Austin last weekend, when his MCL33 got nailed from the side by Lance Stroll's Williams in the very first lap, ending his race.

In the 17 years that the Spaniard has been in the sport, he's seen both the old owner Bernie Ecclestone and the new owners, Liberty Media. The American company has made an effort to make F1 better as a product, introducing things like F1 TV and like free live streams before and after races, interviewing drivers and interacting with fans. Alonso has noticed this, and he thinks it's the right direction to be headed in.

"It’s a little bit more about the show, about the spectator, maybe less technical information and more about the show, the drivers, about the cars," he told RaceFans.

"I think it’s a great thing and probably the direction Formula 1 will go in the future now with Liberty etc… I think the show will be the main priority for everyone."
