The two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso claims he hasn’t had a car good enough to win the World Championship for 11 seasons. Alonso is yet to win a Grand Prix since the turbo hybrid engine introduction.
Testing times have been ever-present since joining McLaren and Alonso attempts to sum it up.
“I think it has been up and down,” said the Spaniard. “Think the last possibility of the last championship car we had was 2007. The rest has always been quite far off from the performance of the top.
“We’re now 11 years after that moment, so I don’t think it’s a problem, but I think the biggest thing for me is to think about the direction F1 is going.”
It’s no secret that Alonso is in the hunt for motorsports triple crown. He entered the Indy500 last season and will race at Le Mans this weekend. His future in F1 is right up in the air, and he himself attempts he needs to think about his next move.
"When you see again the grid in Canada there were two Mercedes, two Ferraris, two Red Bulls, two Force Indias and two Renaults in Q3. It is a constructors' world championship and not a drivers' world championship so it is something I need to decide," added Alonso
