In an interview with Sky Sports F1, Fernando Alonso has revealed that he's been offered a seat at Red Bull Racing six times over his career, two of which came this season, even though Christian Horner denied these comments earlier.
Alonso, who will step away from Formula One at the end of the season, is not happy with the comments from Horner and Helmut Marko during the summer, where they said the Spaniard was "too chaotic" for them to have on the team.
The two-time champion now revealed that Red Bull were the ones who offered him a seat on several occasions, as recent as this month, which makes it even more surprising that they would call him out like they have.
"From Red Bull, in fact, l had [offers to drive for them] in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and two this year - one in Monaco and one in August," he told Sky Sports F1.
"The comments of Christian Horner this summer and Mr Marko are completely out of context and surprising about me causing chaos or difficult to work with.
"One they have never worked with me.
"And second they have chased me on five or six occasions over the last seven years.
"And now they say that - that they are loyal to their programme and their junior drivers."
If this is true what Alonso is saying, that certainly sounds a bit hypocritical from Red Bull's side. The two-time champion is not having it.
"It has been weird and unfair to me.
"I wrote to Christian after his comments this summer.
"He apologised on email and hopefully he will apologise again this weekend."
