AlphaTuari and Aston Martin have announced their schedule for the winter test in Bahrain. The drivers of these teams will share all days, although one driver has an advantage.
On Friday the winter test starts in Bahrain, and the
Formula 1 season can finally start. With only three days of winter testing each driver has only one and a half days in the car, and at
Williams it is even so arranged that the regular drivers only have one day, because reserve driver Roy Nissany gets one day of testing.
A change every day in Bahrain
At most teams however the days are divided between the two regular drivers, and that's no different at AlphaTauri and Aston Martin. Both teams choose to have both drivers drive each day, but in doing so one driver has an advantage. In the morning program a driver can do less than during an afternoon program, because the morning (afternoon in Bahrain) is much too hot.
In this respect it is logical that AlphaTauri chooses to give Yuki Tsunoda that extra afternoon practice session, because as a 'Rookie' he is behind the competition. At Aston Martin the choice is less logical, as you would expect newcomer
Sebastian Vettel to get the best opportunity to test.
