Aston Martin have filed an appeal to the
FIA to reconsider the penalty imposed on
Fernando Alonso for an incident with
Carlos Sainz during the sprint race in China.
Aston Martin to appeal
During the sprint race for the
Chinese Grand Prix, Alonso and Sainz collided during a fierce battle. The
Aston Martin driver suffered a puncture in the process, dropping him far down the rankings. On top of that, the stewards gave him a hefty time penalty and three penalty points on his licence, bringing his total penalty points to six.
Prior to the Miami GP, representatives of both Aston Martin and
Ferrari must report to the stewards. The hearing will determine whether there is a "significant new element that was not yet available to the applicant at the time of the decision in question".
