Valtteri Bottas finished top of the timesheets after FP1 in Baku, although Max Verstappen crashed out early in the session and suffered damage so severe he could not rejoin the circuit.
Valtteri Bottas made the perfect start to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend, dominating FP1 to finish in P1, ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez.
Ricciardo, who won here last year seemed in fine form, setting his fastest times on the super soft tyre, compared to those around him who set their times on the ultrasoft compound.
Verstappen lost the back end into turn four and slammed into the barriers, causing damage to the left side of his car. Originally, the Dutchman thought he would be able to recover, but it was pretty obvious that his session was done and the Red Bull mechanics now have a job on their hands to get him ready for FP2, which starts at 2pm UK time.
It was a strong session for Force India, who have struglled so far this season. However, upgrades for this race seem to have done the trick, with Perez finishing P3 and Esteban Ocon up in fifth.
However, it was not the best session for Ferrari, Vettel and Raikkonen ending the session 10th and 15th respectively. Ferrari mechanics were spotted taking the floor off of Raikkonen's car and working on the underside of it, so there could be some problems for the Finn.
Here are the official results and don't forget to join us for FP2, live from 1:45 BST!
