Sebastian Vettel would have expected to be in the fight for the 2019
Formula 1 world championship, but his
Ferrari car hasn't been up to scratch. The German is also under pressure from his teammate
Charles Leclerc who has almost won two races.
Team boss Mattia Binotto continues to defend Vettel for his mistakes made during the 2019 season. The mistake made in
Canada when he was leading the race and defending
Lewis Hamilton is the mistake which stands out.
"It was always racing situations where Sebastian was at the absolute limit or sometimes even about it," Binotto told Auto Bild.
“It is certainly not easy for him, no doubt about it. He has a dream to become a world champion with Ferrari and we support him in making it come true. He has a lot of experience, expertise and skills, not only as a team player but also as a leader who works with great enthusiasm," Binotto added.
Vettel has some hard work to do if he's going to win his fifth world championship this season. He's currently 74 points behind Hamilton, who is guaranteed to be ahead of Vettel in the championship until at least the middle of September.
