Ferrari performed excellent again during the
United States Grand Prix. While
Charles Leclerc finished in fourth place,
Carlos Sainz was seventh. For
Mattia Binotto it is a sign that
Ferrari is on the right track.
The Italian team replaced the engines of Sainz and Leclerc in recent weeks. This had a positive effect, because both drivers could compete better with
McLaren in America. Ferrari even scored more points than their competitor, which brings them closer to third place in the Constructors' Championship.
"If you look generally-speaking this season McLaren has been always very competitive in medium, high speed corners and again it is the case here in Austin. But I think if I look at the overall performance this weekend we have been ahead of them," the Ferrari team boss stated on
the official website of Formula 1.
Ferrari wants to compete with McLaren
Binotto is therefore positive about the last five races. "If you consider last year, it’s a really big step forwards. We still know there is a gap to the best engine today, but we believe that that gap is not so dramatic."
