In 2015,
Carlos Sainz started an adventure in
Formula 1 together with
Max Verstappen at Torro Rosso. Whereas Verstappen soon got the chance to advance to the
Red Bull Racing team, Sainz needed a detour to finally get a seat at a top team,
Ferrari.
Do not worry
After Torro Rosso,
Renault and
McLaren, Sainz became
Charles Leclerc's teammate at
Ferrari last season. In his first season, the Italians did not have a car to compete at the top. Now they have one, although Sainz has not managed to finish on the top step of the podium yet.
But Sainz has patience. He learned that during his years of searching for a competitive spot in F1.
"All young people are very impatient," he explains in conversation with
Marca. He was asked what he would say to the ambitious Carlos of 2015?
"We have a lot of drive and a lot of desire. I would tell myself not to worry so much about things that happen, because you can't do anything about it."
It's going to be okay
By now Sainz knows that by working hard, the results will come. Patience is important, the Carlos of today tells the Carlos of yesterday. After all, the multi-year contract at Ferrari is proof that everything will come right.
