While
Carlos Sainz has a contract with
Ferrari until 2024, rumours have started to spread about which car he would drive beyond the end of next year. The Spaniard is cautious about his future and wants to secure a seat, but also wants to do well with his current team until he has a contract with the Italians.
"I think in Ferrari right now, there's much bigger priorities than sorting out the future of the drivers. Also, personally, with so many races consecutively, it's not like you can stop for a minute and really think about your future and where you see yourself in the next two or three years," said Sainz about his future.
However, he also said that he will have time to think. "I'm not going to lie, there's the three-week break in August that I'll start maybe thinking a bit what I would be happy with or whatever. Then the winter break that I think is what I said in that interview a while ago, that it will be time to start to figure out where I will be racing in 2025."
Current priority is Ferrari
On the other hand, the Spanish driver also underlined what is main focus at the moment. "I fully agree with Fred [Vasseur], because at Ferrari, there's much bigger priorities, much bigger, more important things that we need to sort out in the short term. That is my priority too, to be competitive with Ferrari not only this year, but also next year that I still have a contract in place and get next year’s car right and get it better than where we are now."
