Fernando Alonso tested today in Barcelona for the first time with a
Renault, his employer for next year. Two
Renault team members who were present in Spain tested positive for corona, it now appears.
The two team members would belong to a group of up to six who, as a precaution, were isolated in their hotel and did not travel to the circuit this morning,
Racefans.net reports. The website also states that there are no indications that Renault has not adhered to corona protocols and that none of the team members involved have been in contact with senior members of the Renault hierarchy, including CEO Luca de Meo and managing director
Cyril Abiteboul.
Renault is the fourth team where positive cases of corona have been identified this year. Two members of the
Mercedes team tested positive last weekend, one
McLaren team member at the
Australian Grand Prix in March and
Racing Point driver
Sergio Perez during the races at Silverstone.
