Former Formula One driver and analyst David Coulthard has expressed his admiration for Fernando Alonso. In the 'Formula For Success' podcast, he discussed the ups and downs of Formula 1 with Eddie Jordan as usual. Coulthard finds the 'mode' Alonso is in for this season particularly impressive.
Alonso has obviously been away from Formula 1 for a while, but he seems to be compensating for that now. The Spaniard has already scored 75 points in his Aston Martin this season.
"I think there’s two reasons as to why he’s like that. When he stepped away from F1 for the first time, he straight into Indy Car, other sports cars, he did the Dakar too. He’s got a kart track, and you see him testing his karts out there in Spain. So the uninterrupted being in the mode of a racing driver keeps those things sharp in his mind." Coulthard said.
Jordan also sees a young Spanish bull in the media. "He acts and talks like he's 23!" Next week, Alonso will get another chance to pick up points. That is when the Monaco Grand Prix will be held.
