Mercedes-driver
Valtteri Bottas might have to fit a new power unit into his Mercedes this weekend, as reports have come out that the hydraulics failure of last weekend might have done some permanent damage to the engine.
The German team has done a lot of research and testing with the Fin's engine but hasn't drawn a conclusion from it yet. They'll have to make a decision by Friday morning if they want to evade any penalties this weekend.
However, it would be Bottas's third power unit of the season already, meaning that any new engine from that point onwards would mean a fierce grid penalty, which could have some bad implications in both championships.
According to Motorsport-Total, the three-time Grand Prix winner doesn't have to be worried about receiving any penalties this weekend, but he'll be on edge for the remaining eleven races. And let me tell you something, no engine lasts that long. So, if Bottas needs a new one this weekend, there's definitely a penalty coming somewhere down the line.
