The British press have started asking about Toto Wolff's future at Mercedes. The team underperformed again during the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend, and questions are being asked if they really will be able to challenge Red Bull in the near future. Is Toto Wolff the right team boss to lead them out of this hole?
It's a bit of a unique situation. Wolff holds a 33% stake in the Mercedes F1 team, so there are more ties than usual when it comes to being a Team Principal. However, Mercedes themselves know their performances haven't been good enough recently. Time and time again, Wolff promises the team will get better and be able to fight for both World Championships again. There have been some steps forward, but they always seem to be followed by backward steps.
In the football world, there wouldn't be any question marks. After two seasons of failure, Wolff would be gone. At some clubs equivalent to Mercedes, he probably wouldn't have even seen the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix. The Formula 1 world is more relaxed regarding this, but has it gone far enough now? Should Toto Wolff face the sack? Let us know in our poll below.
